How to care for your Oreck vacuum

1. After cleaning every home:

• Check the roller brush.
• Cut off any excess hairs, strings that are stuck.
• Wipe the bottom cover of the vacuum with sanitizing spray.
• Wipe the top cover of the vacuum with sanitizing spray.
  

2. Remove the bottom vacuum cover and check to make sure the belt is in good condition.

• If it looks very worn out, replace it.
  

3. Do not let the bag get filled up to the top, change the bag once it is over 3/4 of its capacity.

4. If you are vacuuming and don’t see the vacuum bag air up, stop using it, the vacuum is clogged.

To check for anything clogged in the vacuum:

• First, unplug the vacuum!
• Turn it over and unscrew the bottom cover.
• Put your fingers through the opening, and feel for anything stuck.
  • Pull out whatever is stuck, or
  • Check the black pole that the vacuum is attached to.
  • Unscrew the pole and make sure no hairs or other items are stuck in it.
    

5. If you are vacuuming and it smells like something is burning:

• Turn it off immediately.
• The roller might not be turning and the belt might have broke.
• If that’s the case, change the belt.
  

6. If you turn the switch to on, and it doesn’t start:

• Plug it into a different outlet.
• Check the cables inside the switch aren’t disconnected.
  • Unscrew the handle, where switch cables are located.
  • Check and make sure you don’t see any loose cables.
  • Plug it back in if it is loose.

7. If you notice the cloth bag is dusty:

• The paper bag is not attached correctly and the dirt is going into the cloth bag.
• Open the bag and reseat the paper bag within.
• Replace the paper bag if it is faulty or torn.
• Wash the cloth bag and air dry at least once per week, it’s okay to wash with blue microfiber rags.
  

8. When changing the vacuum bag, always make sure it is securely attached. If not securely attached, it can get loose without you realizing it and this will result in a cloth bag full of dust.
